Augmented Realty : Coming Future

In olden days plays and theaters were sources of entertainment, then came era of cinema and from last 100 years its one of top sources of entertainment. Beside movies, gaming is also a major form of entertainment whether outdoor, indoor or on computers and video games. Very soon this all going to be change as We are on the verge of some new technologies which are going to shape, define and restructure our entertainment, gaming and many more other areas of our life. 

Augmented Reality is one of the pioneer technologies which we will see more and more in coming days. The revolution has started; it’s a matter of time when we get bumped to this.

Augmented Reality is a technology where reality is modified or say our sense of reality is improved by using voice, touch, graphics and GPS data and augment or supplement our real, live physical environment in real time. With AR we can insert information in real world scenario and increase level of perception of our surrounding.

We can track places & locations

There are some simple examples we can see in our mobiles as GPS system. It helps in navigating and finding places with map by locating our current location in world. There are some apps which tell nearby café, shops and other places if you just open camera of your mobile and see around at any open place like market, roads etc.

• In the form of display there are various devices like mobile, tablet, head mounted display, eye tap, contact lenses and other handheld displays.

• In the form of tracking there are GPS, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, optical sensors and wireless sensors etc.

• In the form of sound, voices can be interpret to instruct systems and gestures can analyzed to perform certain actions by machines and devices.

Areas of application: Entertainment, Health, Defense, Architecture, Art, Construction, Education, Gaming, Navigation, Offices etc.

Here are some ideas, some scenario in our life where AR technology can create wonders and already has started creating wonders, some people are actually using it in some parts of the world.

• Imagine you woke up in the morning and as you brush your teeth, in the mirror you are seeing current weather report and news flashes.

• You visit any historical place or new place and your mobile start giving you details of the surroundings, becomes your tour guide.

• By using some head held devices for Virtual Realtiy like Oculus Rift, gaming and movie experience enhances up to 360 degree of our vision, we can see simulated and modified view of our environment.

• Before designing and building any structure we can visualize designs in 3D and 2D environment, feel their form and better understand its nuisances before laying a single brick.

• There are several operations and surgeries in which doctors are  preferring AR technology to lessen the amount of risk as the major level of  precision involved.

• In the area of military operations several risk can be avoided by using AR technology. 360 degree virtual map, soldiers’ location and various other data can analyze and useful information can provide to soldiers to easily achieve target and prevent danger. 

A very famous example is Osama invasion operation by U.S., where US president Barack Obama and other defense officials saw live action on screen in America by wirelessly connected to soldiers head mounted camera in Pakistan. US unmanned drones also a great example as they can function in any part of the world which are operated by US officers sitting in their homeland.

• In the field of education AR is very helpful as in form of graphics, sound and text to better understand and percept concepts. Like in chemistry 3D molecular structure can be understand comfortably. This kind of interactive course material would help students in learning.
