"How Touchscreen works"

How Touch screen in Mobiles or in other gadgets work:

Mobile Touch screen is made of different layers. The screen where we touch, is made of Glass and other materials, works only as a protection. Below this level there is very fine mesh of wires, which are invisible to eyes. These wires go vertically and horizontally on the screen making a grid pattern. There is a film in between horizontal and vertical wires, so these wires can’t directly touch each other.

One layer of wires say horizontal wires are connected to negative terminal of battery and the other vertical wires are connected to positive terminal of battery. When we press at the Touch screen glass, due to pressure both sets of wires came in contact and produce small electric charge, because these wires are not in direct contact so the charge produced is very minute.

As human body is a conductor of electricity and body is also having some electric charge, when we touch glass screen this minute charge go through the screen and creates good electric field and this charge is sensed by sensors and capacitors neatly hidden on borders of touch screen. The black area around the touch screen is the place where these sensors and capacitors are placed.

These sensors accurately senses at the exact position of your touch as the electric charge produced by wires at that place is highest comparing to other places on screen. By analyzing these data mobile phones reacts to our need.
